| | Yukihiro Takahashi | ] | I haven't posted on here in ages by the way, but for some reason I feel compelled to do so tonight. I've been kept awfully busy over the festive period with work; I was in today and i'm in again on Boxing day. I just want a day off to lie about in my pants and play Zelda. We got a Wii, it's great and my Mii looks scarily like me apparently. I'm back in Kingask tonight and i'm enjoying the silence. I think Gerard's coming over in a bit, haven't seen him since Findo last played at Felt a few months back. We are working on a new Otterley EP which should be finished in January. I know it's been taking ages, but it's hard feeling motivated at nights when you work a full time job. I think it's sounding good, I got this new synth which is helping lots:

Hopefully this will make future projects a bit easier cos' I wont have to do as much fiddling to get things sounding good. It's been ages since we've done anything so hopefully people will still be into us, and I hope we do loads next year cos' this year has been pants.
Merry Christmas :) |

Today Charlie, my cousin Kieran and I went to a car boot sale in
Tayport. I remember the last time i'd been was when I was around 11,
and I sold off my rather sizeable wrestling figure collection (and
promptly bought a Red Hot Chill Peppers 'Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic'
guitar book and 'Keplunk' by Greenday (both of which would be car boot
sale fodder to me now, had I still kept them)). Today it was quite
lacklustre, I was expecting more old video games and musical stuff, but
the journey seemed justified when I stumbled across this:

I did a wee search for it online and supposedly it makes some really
cool sounds when the batteries start to run out. The rhythms are
brilliant and you can do all manner of chords with the bit on the left.
Best thing is it only cost £3. I'm gonna record a song (or maybe an EP)
using no other instruments except my Casio PT-30 :).

Encourages people to break the law, surely.
I have something to get off my chest. Last night after the Hazey Janes
gig (which was a lot of fun), we went to Tesco, and I purchased a Dire
Straits best of. It wasn't even a father's day gift, I bought it for
myself. My excuse is that on my favourite christmas ever, when I was
about 8, I got a NES and a load of Lego, and my brother got a Dire
Straits tape, so it always reminds me of those happy times. Perhaps
someone can recommend an obscure electronica album so I can go someway
towards redeeming myself :-). Luckily I managed to resist the
temptation of buying a Billy Joel best of, but it really is only a
matter of time.

As an avid cinema-goer, why am I subjected to those cringe-inducing Orange ads? They are shown every time, no matter what cinema I go to. The current one has Darth Vadar, and at the end they sing 'Bye Darth Vadar', and even thinking of it now has my stomach in knots. And you're always guaranteed that some members of the audience will laugh heartily, like it's the funniest thing in the whole world ever. And then you start questioning why you even came to see the film in the first place, given it must appeal to people who find Orange ads amusing. So then you leave, realising that you've just spent the cost of a film ticket to watch an Orange ad that you totally despise in the first place. Then you go home and wallow for a bit, then maybe eat some chips or something. |

We might be playing our first gig in Edinburgh on Friday, 17th of next month at Caledonian Backpackers. I'll keep you posted.
I've done a newer version of the EP 3 cover, I prefer this to the blue one I did I think.

Also, don't know what band we're up against or what song they've chose of ours yet either. I'll keep you posted anyways. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/scotland/
I got my wrist checked out at the Adamson hospital in Cupar a wee while ago, but their X-ray machines were down so I have to go to Ninewells later. Wish me luck.
Oh, and go and see The Edukators if you can, it's a treat. |

| | Otterley EP 3 stuff | ] | We saw Annie Hall at the DCA yesterday, it was lovely seeing it on the big screen. I also bought a Billie Holiday compilation from 24-hour Asda (3 CDs for a fiver, bargain!) so I can feel like i'm in one of Allen's films in the comfort of my own home.
I'm gonna work on EP 3 tonight. I've been terribly lazy with it, the nights just seem to disappear (my current fondness for Su Doku is partly to blame).
Oh, and the new Bruce Springsteen album is great, especially 'Matamoros Banks'. |

Ok, so it appears that my last piece was too daring for some of you. I
can only take comfort in the belief that my work will be appreciated a
long time after my death, when the rest of the world has finally caught
up. So i've decided to use this piece instead. It's a bit more
pedestrian, but perhaps it wont invoke such an unsavoury reaction (rest
assured I am beating msyelf up about this).

I used an effect called 'Negative' on this. It makes everything look
really strange and wicked. Most art packages have Negative, so make the
most of it, because normal photos look really boring and rubbish in
comparison. I used the Matisse font here, I think it really helps
display our fun side. Believe it or not, but I took the pictures of
each of us from seperate photos, but because I did such a good job, it
just looks like a normal photo. I'm not sure about the border yet, I
think it's so far ahead of it's time even I can't comprehend it's
greatness yet.

fancy placing a vote in our favour, then head to www.bbc.co.uk/air (I

that i'm going to pay as little attention to it as possible, 'though
this is harder said than done.
Gerard is coming up later on to record some vocals for this:
